Preparing to travel with your pet? You are most likely going to need a Health Certificate. Below you will find valuable information to help summarize the process. Prior to your appointment with us, we require submission of our Travel Form (Domestic or International) and Travel Waiver. An up to date rabies vaccination and rabies vaccine certificate is required for almost all Domestic and International Health Certificates.
Domestic Health Certificates
Many states require an up-to-date Certificate of Veterinary Inspection from a licensed, accredited veterinarian when traveling. Your pet must be examined by a veterinarian in order for a health certificate to be issued. This certificate indicates that your pet is healthy for travel and that he or she is not showing signs of disease. This certificate is required by most airlines in order for your pet to travel within the continental United States. Please note that airlines may have separate and additional requirements from the requirements of the state you are traveling. Check with your airline to determine what requirements they may have, if any.
We strongly recommend using the USDA website to be aware of the State specific travel requirements (https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel). Oftentimes airlines require that your pet be examined by a veterinarian and a health certificate issued within 10 days of travel. It is your responsibility to check with your airline to ensure that your paperwork will be in order. If necessary we are able to add a certificate of acclimation to your pet’s travel papers. This certificate is written at the discretion of our veterinarians and is based upon our vet’s assessment of your pet’s health allowing him or her to travel above or below certain temperatures.
International Health Certificates

Export requirements are determined by each country and can change frequently. Every time you plan pet travel you will need to verify the export requirements.
